John Hagee’s Supernatural Encounter

The term, “Non Conversionary” is heard a lot in Christian Zionist circles. John Hagee began organizing and promoting events to honor Israel shortly after the destruction of the nuclear reactor in Osirak, Iraq in 1981. The Israeli Airforce conducted the difficult and successful raid and the world media was attacking the goverment for daring to take the action to protect the Jews living in Israel.

The action of the Israeli government has long been seen as justified since the raid in 1981 by all but the most ardent of Israel’s enemies. A “Night to Honor Israel” is appropriate for any individual or group of people to do who consider themselves friends of the Jewish State, especially Christians. Why then are these events always organized and promoted as being “Non Conversionary”?

Matthew 28:18-20 KJV
[18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Notice that Jesus does not make any exceptions. He said to teach All nations so that would of course include the Jewish nation that He had been teaching Himself during His ministry here on earth. Jesus made a promise and a prophecy to the Jewish leaders who had rejected Him shortly before He was murdered.

Matthew 23:37-39 KJV
[37] O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! [38] Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. [39] For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

This is an important Bible passage to know because it describes what must happen before Jesus returns to earth to establish His Milleniel Kingdom. If the Jews were somehow prevented from recognizing Jesus as their Messiah, it would prevent Jesus from returning and establishing the Kingdom of God on the earth.

From the John Hagee article above;

At the site revered by Jews for 2,000 years following the destruction of the Second Temple, Hagee, 78, a devout evangelical Christian, “felt a very special presence” and had an awakening, he told members of The Times of Israel at a roundtable interview on Sunday. “I really felt that there was something that I should be doing to try to bring Christians and Jews together in a dimension that was nonthreatening, and not trying in any way to be conversionary,” he said.

Here is a question that all of us should be asking;

Just who was that, “Very special presence” that John Hagee felt at the Western Wall?

Was it Jesus or the Holy Spirit?

None of us were there and we have only Pastor Hagee’s description of what happened. However based on that alone I think it is possible to make an informed decision and conclude that neither Jesus nor the Holy Spirit would be the source of an “Awakening” that would cause any Christian to hide the message of the Gospel from the Jews.

So if it wasn’t Jesus or the Holy Spirit, just who was behind that, “Very special presence”?

Again, I think it is possible to make an informed decision on the basis of who would benefit if the Jews were prevented from recognizing their Messiah and thereby causing Jesus’ prophecy in Matt 23 to fail. Satan and all of his anti Christ collaborators would certainly benefit.

In conclusion ...

A Christian who attempts to be “Non Conversionary” is a walking contradiction. It is impossible to be a follower of Jesus and refuse to follow His last and greatest commandment in Matt 28.

Christians can be friends with Jews without being “Non Conversionary”. It’s easy. Just treat any Jew you meet the same way you would like to be treated and they will gladly be friends with you. It’s like loving your neighbor as yourself which is the second greatest commandment.
